%X This study considers the directionality of acoustic sources as an important as- pect of spatial perception and investigates aspects of reconstructing source radiation patterns in interactive virtual or augmented reality applications. The measurement of directional characteristics of sound sources applying spherical microphone arrays will be addressed, particularly with emphasis on the discrete spherical harmonic transform (DSHT) and its practical limitations. Finally, several case studies of practical implementations including real-time auralization, wave field synthesis (WFS) and spherical loudspeaker arrays will be briefly discussed.
