    %X Wave Field Synthesis (WFS) provides holophonic sound reproduction allowing for the reproduction of the acoustical properties of a sound field over an extended listening area. Rendering accuracy is independent of listener position and/or orientation (which resolves the issue of having a single "sweet-spot"). Moreso, contrarily to virtual reality systems based on binaural reproduction, no tracking devices, processing power, or input devices are needed in order to keep track of user movements within the listening area. WFS aims at reproducing the true physical attributes of a given sound field over an extended area of the listening room. It is based on Huyghens’ principle (1678) which states that a wave propagating through a medium can be recreated by adding the contributions of a series of secondary sources positioned along a given wave front. Mathematical formulations of this principle were studied by different physicians and are known as Kirchoff-Helmholtz and Rayleigh integrals.
