Résumé |
KANT is a new model for rhythm quantification where non-periodic segmentation of the input stream is performed prior to tempo recognition. Beat duration is computed by an approximation algorithm equivalent to the one used at IRCAM for virtual fundamental extraction. The result is a score where the meter structure is allowed to vary highly -- in order to accomodate the particular grouping structure delivered by the segmentation analysis -- and is consistent with the tempo. This system is designed to permit the quantification of the complex temporal structures of contemporary music into the changing meters and tempos of contemporary notation. |
